Seward: The “4th of July City”

Seward, known as the “4th of July City,” hosts an annual large-scale celebration. Since 1990, this festivity has featured a pole vault competition. In 1998, the event transformed into a street vault, becoming one of the nation’s longest-running street pole vault competitions.

REGISTRATION for the 2026 will open on June 1, 2026.

The morning elite division will showcase athletes soaring over 17 feet, along with four standout women with personal bests above 14 feet. The field includes state record holders, All-Americans, and some of the top local college vaulters.

The main competition will feature a packed lineup of over 35 vaulters, ranging in age from 12 to 55, all ready to bring the energy and excitement to downtown Seward!
